JulieG Crushed Candy

Time for another JulieG polish from the Frosted Gumdrops collection! I have Crushed Candy to show you today.

Ugh, I love it! Two coats of Crushed Candy with no top coat.

Just like Blueberry Fizz, application was so easy. It glides on flawlessly. I'm SUCH a fan of the brush. Actually, I'm not sure if it's the brush or the formula that I love so much. Whatever it is, it's not messy for me!

Look at all the pretty! I had heard that removal of textured polishes wasn't as bad as you'd think and I have to agree. I was expecting removal to be just like removing glitter polishes but it's much easier.

I was curious how Crushed Candy looks with top coat so I put two coats of Seche Vite on for the following photos.

It darkens the polish a bit but it's so so so gorgeous.

JulieG Blueberry Fizz

Welcome to JulieG week on Never Nude Nails. Thanks to Groupon (affiliate link), I purchased my first full collection! They recently featured the JulieG Frosted Gumdrops collection for just $12.99! Each of the polishes will have their own post because I do like to wear the polishes rather than just swatch and remove. First up is Blueberry Fizz.

This is also my first time trying out textured polish and I'm loving it so far. All photos show two coats of Blueberry Fizz and no top coat. It feels very strange to not apply top coat.

Blueberry Fizz kind of reminds me of shiny denim. Know what I mean?

It does feel sandpaper-ish but look at that! So pretty! I can't help but rub my fingers over my nails to feel the texture. I feel like the glitter is being rubbed off onto my skin but it's not.

Blueberry Fizz application was a breeze. I love the size of the JulieG brushes because they're not too wide that I get a lot of polish "outside the lines." I can't wait to try the rest!

Colorful Gradient Stickers from Born Pretty Store

Like I said in my last nail art post, I won a twitter held giveaway by Born Pretty Store. Here's the second of the three prizes I won: 1pc Classical Gradient Colorful Glitter 3D Nail Art Sticker-8 Patterns.

This is Pattern #3. You know I'm a sucker for anything gradient so I was super excited to see this as one of my prizes but I had a hard time choosing which pattern. I chose this one for the cute flowers and scallop design.

I first did two coats of White on White by China Glaze. I put some striping tape down and applied Visually Slimming by Spoiled. At this point, my nails looked like little referees, hehe. Then came the stickers! The stickers are white inside of the flower and between the two gradient lines on scallops so keep that in mind.

They were easy to apply since they are stickers! If you mess up the placement, you can easily move it without messing it up. Pretty cool! I did top coat with Seche Vite.

The thumb is my favorite!

You can find these stickers here: 1pc Classical Gradient Colorful Glitter 3D Nail Art Sticker-8 Patterns for $2.98. There are 8 patterns to choose from so specify which pattern you want when ordering. Don't forget to use code KARW10 to get 10% off your order! Born Pretty Store has FREE worldwide shipping!

Comparison: Broadway Burgundy Frost vs Ruby Pumps

Here's something funny. NYC Broadway Burgundy Frost was my go-to polish for so long. I had multiple bottles and I love it. I would put it on about once a month, with neither base coat nor top coat, and leave it be. I left that stuff on until it chipped all the way off on its own. That was one year ago. Seriously!

When I discovered the wider world of nail polish and nail art, I decided to branch out and try new things. I wanted to try different colors, techniques, brands, etc. I walked into Sally Beauty Supply, bought some hair stuff for my new short 'do courtesy of my boyfriend, an elephant themed duffel bag for my sister, and one bottle of nail polish: Ruby Pumps by China Glaze. It was my very first China Glaze and I didn't even realize that I was buying something so similar to what I was usually always wearing.

Similar but not the same! My index finger and ring finger have three coats of NYC Broadway Burgundy Frost while my middle finger and pinky have two coats of China Glaze Ruby Pumps. It took three coats of Broadway Burgundy Frost to build up to the richer color that Ruby Pumps has in two coats. Ruby Pumps has a more glittery finish with more depth.

They're both gorgeous. NYC Broadway Burgundy Frost has the more affordable price tag of like $1. Ruby Pumps has the advantage of the wonderful China Glaze formula.

What do you think?

Sweet Bowknot from Born Pretty Store

I won a giveaway held on twitter last month from Born Pretty Store! I was sent three things. Today, I'm showing you one of those things: 24pc Sweet Bowknot Resin 3D Nail Art Sticker w/box.

You get two of each color and they come in this wheel. This is the first time I've had nail art supplies that came in a wheel so I had no idea that you could turn the plastic top around to have the little window open above each compartment. I'm an idiot and tried to pry the top off, lol. I figured it out before I broke it though! Whew!

I made use of my swatch sticks to find suitable polishes to pair with one of the bows. I liked the look of China Glaze Full Spectrum and NYC East Village with the teal bow.

I did two coats of NYC East Village on all nails. After they dried, I used striping tape to make random lines and then applied one coat of China Glaze Full Spectrum. I pulled off the striping tape and top coated with Seche Vite.

I have ridiculously tiny nail beds so the bow looked pretty silly on any of my nails. Is that a weird placement? This was my third attempt putting it somewhere! I put it on my ring fingernail and my nail disappeared. So it's on my thumb!

These are quite possibly the most sparkly, blingy nails I've ever worn. I really really love it! The bows are totally reusable, too!

You can find these bows here: 24pc Sweet Bowknot Resin 3D Nail Art Sticker w/box for $4.14 on bornprettystore.com. They have FREE worldwide shipping! Don't forget to use the code KARW10 to get 10% off!

Allow me to rant...

Anyone else a member of the Nail Art Society? I signed up in February. My first kit spent a week going nowhere, stuck with "Electronic Shipping Info Received" as the status in the shipment tracking from February 12th to February 19th. I finally emailed NAS about it and they sent it out. For March's kit, I didn't receive a tracking information email at all which made me think my kit wasn't coming but it DID show up... with another person's name on it instead of mine. For April? Another week (April 10th to April 18th) of "Electronic Shipping Info Received" for shipment status. I emailed them about it on Monday, April 15, and they replied that they'll look into it. Nothing since. But, I have seen them on their twitter telling their new blogger gurus that they're sending them the May kit already and generally spamming other polish lovers with a sneak peek at May's kit. Meanwhile, I'm waiting for an explanation of where my April kit is.

I don't know what to think. I signed up under the impression that you'd get at least one bottle of nail polish in each kit. When they changed directions and started focusing more on the nail art supplies, with polish not being the main focus, I wasn't mad. Whatever. They altered the price so that everyone pays $9.95 to reflect their change. I think that's awesome.

However, I am NOT impressed with how NAS seems to be unable to ship their kits out right. I'm normally a pretty patient person but my patience has worn thin with them. I feel like I'm not worth the effort as a customer.

In conclusion, my experience with Nail Art Society thus far has been a complete mess. NAS needs to take care of their customers!

UPDATE @ 8:55pm: They have refunded me for April's kit and have sent it out. Thank you, NAS for taking care of this!

Orly Elation Generation

I guess a watched nail won't grow. Here's one of my newest polishes: Orly's Elation Generation from the Hope and Freedom collection.

Look at all that holographic glitter!

This is two coats of Elation Generation with NYC Grand Central Station acting as a top coat. This reminds me so much of nail polishes I used to put on my niece's nails when she was like 2 years old. Shout out to Katelyn if she's reading! It's not ugly by any means but I'm not exactly elated over it. I think all the glittery goodness is stuck to the sides of the bottle.

Itty, Bitty & Gritty— melon with textured grit
Of Coarse!— bright, cobalt-blue with textured grit

Swatch Sticks

After taking off my waves and dots, I went to take my dogs out to potty. Wedgie did that dog thing where they shake their heads like crazy, know what I mean? I was attempting to put his leash on when he did it and his ID tag hit my nail. Broke it! It was my ring finger on my blog hand and I had just rehabbed that nail from its brittleness! It's uncomfortably short now. Luckily, my nails grow fast so it should be back to normal pretty soon.

In the meantime, I've been swatching all my polishes on some swatch sticks!

Woohoo! I got these from the seller 365digital on eBay. They had free shipping on these when I purchased them but they've since updated the listing and shipping is no longer free.

I had to write out the labels by hand because my printer is not hooked up and I'm impatient. I'm hoping these will help me come up with some delicious color and layering combinations!

Waves and Dots

Unicorn by Sinful Colors is my most favorite yellow polish ever. I wanted to do some colorful nail art with Unicorn as a base.

This is three coats of Unicorn with Swizzle Stix by Barielle and Uptown by NYC. I used my wave scissors that I've used before to make the waves. The polish obviously seeped under the tape a bit, boo. It's a little messy but I like it.

Sally Hansen Black and Blue

Late post today. I slept all weekend, oops! I picked up Black and Blue by Sally Hansen the other day. It's beautiful!

Isn't it just gorgeous in the bottle? I was afraid it wouldn't look as good on the nail.

I was wrong! Look at that! I see green, blue and purple. Love.

This is three coats of Black and Blue by Sally Hansen with one coat of NYC Grand Central Station (I like to use that as a top coat when I'm not doing nail art). Two coats would have probably been enough. Did a third because... I liked applying it that much!

Sally Hansen Black Diamonds

I was going through my bins of nail polish hoping I would get inspired and I guess I sort of did! I picked up my bottle of Sally Hansen Black Diamonds and thought 'Why not recreate the bottle?'!

Black Diamonds is a black polish with very fine micro glitter. This is one of the first polishes I bought when I decided to get out of my comfort zone of burgundy colors.

I used a rhinestone that came from a nail art set my sister Shannon got me for Christmas. It came with 20 round rhinestones and 20 heart-shaped rhinestones. This is my first time using them. I quite like them!

I wonder if I can keep the same manicure on long enough for the rhinestone to fall off or until I pick it off.

China Glaze Something Sweet

I'm feeling uncreative lately, sorry! I saw this over at The Secret Life of a Nail Polish Addict and thought it was a neat way to pick a polish to swatch or do something with.

I used random.org to pick a number and it chose 22. Number 22 on my stash list at the time of this post is Something Sweet by China Glaze!

I got Something Sweet in the China Glaze Sweet Sensations ombre kit but it was originally in the Up & Away collection.

Shown is two coats. Formula was great. It really is something sweet, hehe! I had never worn Something Sweet on its own but I did use it in the Sweet Sensations Flowers nail art I did in March.
